Interface is the world’s largest modular flooring company. From their founding 40 years ago in Atlanta, US they have grown to have operations all around the world. They are proud of their history of driving the carpet tile industry forward with a commitment to sustainability from day one.
As Interface has grown, their product portfolio has grown. Almost six thousand designs are available in the EMEA region, and nearly twenty thousand products globally. With limited time to find and show the right products to potential clients, Interface wanted a more effective sales tool.
We worked with Interface to develop a comprehensive sales tool including an iPad application, a catalog and content management system and connections to their CRM systems.
At the outset, Interface knew they wanted an iPad application to help their sales team search all the products available, look up specifications, and show off the products in meetings. We immediately got to work on user experience and design of an app that would make searching products easy and allow easy access to a range of different high-resolution images to suit the customer’s preferences. Using intelligent updating and caching, all product data is available offline but updates seamlessly when a network connection is available.
As we worked with Interface on the app we realised there was no ready source of product information for the app. So we built a CMS for them to manage their products and images. We also worked with them to connect the app to not one but two CRM systems, allowing them to capture all meeting notes, product views and searches and order samples with ease.
Feedback on the app has been very positive. The sales team is using the app throughout the UK with rollouts planned for Europe and other territories in 2013. We’re now working with Interface on several other apps to continue moving their business forward.
