Islington Council covers a large area of North London and is always looking to embrace new technologies in order to connect to the people in the Borough. They wanted an app to be launched concurrently with their new website “izzy” aimed at young people in the Borough.
Islington Council were looking for a way to engage young people in the borough so their voice could be heard. They needed a way to reach this demographic so they could find out what was important to them.
To develop a mobile phone application across all the popular platforms that would allow Islington Council to remotely consult and survey the opinions of young people in Islington aged 12-18, and provide them with news on events for young people in the borough.
We worked closely with Agency Fearlessly Frank and Islington Council to refine their concept. Smile Machine then took on the UX, design and build of all three applications. We integrated with Islington’s existing event listing site and set up a new system for creating surveys and collating the results.
Feedback on the app has been very positive. Analytics show a large take up particularly with Blackberry users. We are currently working with Islington to develop their in house mobile strategy. The app is currently available to download in apple, Android and Blackberry app stores
