Smile Machine were commissioned to produce a mobile app to support the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) New York and Paris motor shows, with the key objective of enhancing visitors’ engagement with the JLR show stand. JLR is a premium brand, and as such, part of the brief was to ensure customers or potential customers had a premium experience in all brand interactions – the app had to be brilliantly designed and the technology within had to be both innovative and functional.
This project came about after picking up the gauntlet to answer the question, “Can beacons be useful to JLR events”
Smile Machine developed an app which made excellent use of geo-location technology. Rather than the traditional beacons which are generally used to push content, this app included many locations based technologies (such as GPS) and used these in a completely different way to provide a well-crafted, smart service via a visitor’s phone, personally connecting them to the hosts before they were on stand and letting the hosts know when the guest had arrived.
To help with their car purchase decision, users could also create their own bespoke car content at one of the on-stand activation points.
The app also allowed users to explore the latest range of models, via an interactive 360-degree vehicle viewer, containing key spec information across the latest fleet of vehicles and for the Paris version book a VIP tour.
In New York, four cars were purchased by visitors who had used the VIP tour.
The app is now being launched in Los Angeles and Shanghai.
